A component that’s a fraction of a millimetre out of tolerance can pass a quick visual check and still fail on the assembly line, or worse, in the field. India’s auto component sector supplies parts to OEMs and buyers around the world, and that scale makes independent, consistent verification essential rather than optional.
TNV Inspection Division provides UAF-accredited third party inspection services for automotive components and vendor facilities across India, under ISO/IEC 17020:2012 (Accreditation No. 5241222IB04). As a Type A inspection body, we hold no commercial stake in the component manufacturer or the buyer. Our inspectors verify materials, dimensions, and workmanship against drawings and applicable standards.
We work with OEMs, Tier 1 and Tier 2 buyers, procurement teams, and export buyers sourcing automotive components from Indian manufacturers.

What is Automotive Component Inspection?
Automotive component inspection is the independent verification of parts and sub-assemblies against engineering drawings, material specifications, and applicable regulatory standards such as CMVR and AIS.
Because automotive components operate in safety-critical and high-volume applications, inspection typically covers:
- Dimensional inspection verifying components meet specified tolerances using calibrated measuring instruments
- Material verification confirming forged, cast, or machined parts meet specified material grades and certifications
- Visual and finish inspection checking surface finish, plating, coating, and cosmetic quality against the specification
- Functional and assembly checks verifying fit, fastening, and functional performance of sub-assemblies where applicable
- AQL-based sampling statistically valid sampling inspection for high-volume component orders
- Vendor and factory audits assessing a supplier’s production capability, process controls, and quality systems before or during a supply relationship
Why Automotive Component Inspection is Critical in India
- India Supplies Components at Global Scale India’s auto component sector supplies OEMs and aftermarket buyers both domestically and internationally, with manufacturing concentrated around Pune, Chennai, and the NCR. That scale means inconsistent quality from even a small percentage of suppliers can create meaningful downstream risk.
- Tolerances Are Tight and Failures Are Safety-Relevant Automotive components are engineered to precise tolerances because they operate under mechanical stress, vibration, and heat over the life of a vehicle. A part that is out of specification may not fail immediately, but it can affect vehicle safety, durability, or performance later in service.
- Buyers Need Consistency Across Many Vendors OEMs and Tier 1 buyers typically source from a wide vendor base, and maintaining consistent quality across dozens or hundreds of suppliers is difficult without independent, standardised inspection rather than relying solely on each vendor’s internal quality claims.
- A Rejected Batch After Delivery Is Costly A component batch that fails inspection or functional testing after it has already been delivered and integrated into a larger assembly is far more expensive and disruptive to correct than a batch caught during in-process or pre-dispatch inspection.
TNV's Automotive Component Inspection Services
- Dimensional and Material Inspection Verification of forged, cast, and machined components against engineering drawings and material specifications using calibrated measuring instruments.
- Sheet Metal and Stamped Parts Inspection Inspection of stamped and formed sheet metal components for dimensional accuracy, finish quality, and conformance to drawings.
- Fastener and Sub-Assembly Inspection Verification of fasteners, rubber and plastic components, and sub-assemblies for material conformance, dimensional accuracy, and functional fit.
- AQL-Based Batch Inspection Statistically valid sampling inspection for high-volume component orders, providing a defensible pass or fail determination for each batch.
- Vendor and Factory Audits Assessment of a supplier’s production capability, process controls, and quality systems, supporting vendor qualification and ongoing supplier monitoring.
- Pre-Dispatch Inspection A final independent check confirming components match the purchase order and drawings before they leave the manufacturer’s facility.

Our Automotive Component Inspection Process
- Step 1 — Scope and Drawing Confirmation You share component drawings, material specifications, and applicable CMVR or AIS requirements. We confirm scope and provide a cost estimate.
- Step 2 — Inspector Assignment We assign inspectors experienced in automotive component inspection, including dimensional and material verification.
- Step 3 — In-Process or Pre-Dispatch Inspection Our inspectors carry out inspection at the manufacturer’s facility, either during production or before final dispatch, depending on the agreed scope.
- Step 4 — Inspection Reports You receive a detailed report covering dimensional findings, material verification, photographic evidence, and any non-conformances identified.
- Step 5 — Follow-Up and Closeout Verification Where non-conformances are found, we support corrective action verification and re-inspection before the batch is cleared for dispatch.
